Performance, Pride & People — A Special Coaching Weekend

Hi Team,

Last weekend, I had the chance to travel up to the west coast of Scotland to support the Wales U20 Women’s team at the Lacrosse Home Internationals.

It was a brilliant weekend, full of energy, connection, and performance. I came away feeling incredibly proud to be part of it, and I wanted to share a few thoughts with you.

A Special Group

This is a team that’s building something strong. They’re talented, they work hard for each other, and they genuinely enjoy being part of the process.

You could see it in how they warmed up, how they supported each other, how they played, all the little things that add up to a strong performance culture. It’s about more than ability. It’s about commitment, connection, and working for the person next to you.

People Make the Environment

It wasn’t just the athletes who made the weekend so good.

The coaches, support staff, families, and even the wider Wales Lacrosse community created a brilliant environment to be in. One where everyone was aligned, focused, and pulling in the same direction.

These things don’t happen by accident. They’re built, through trust, good leadership, and shared values. It’s a reminder of how much culture matters in sport (and life).

Why It Matters

Moments like standing for the anthem and watching the team sing with pride hit you in the chest a bit. It reminds you why you do the work. Coaching is about more than just programming, it’s about people, relationships, and supporting them on their journey.

This kind of work energises me. And whether I’m coaching a national team, a gym member, or a client juggling work and life, the goal is always the same, help them grow, support their performance, and build something they’re proud of.

Looking Ahead

I’m genuinely excited to continue working with this team and supporting them as they develop as athletes and people. It’s a privilege to be part of their journey, and weekends like this are the ones you remember.

Thanks for reading, and if you’re working towards something yourself, whether it’s a competition or just feeling fitter and stronger, I’m here to help.
