You're Allowed to Let Go and Not Feeling Guilty Over Christmas

Hi Aspiring High Performer,

It’s Christmas, and I want to start by saying something that’s been on my mind—

"Fuck it, it’s Christmas!" 🎄

I know, it’s not your typical opening, but hear me out. For so many of us, Christmas brings with it an overwhelming sense of responsibility to stay on track, to maintain routines, to eat healthy, and to keep up with workouts… all while juggling a hundred other things. The pressure can feel intense, and the guilt starts creeping in when we stray from what we think we “should” be doing.

But here’s the truth: Christmas is one week out of the whole year. ONE WEEK. And honestly, it’s okay to let go.

Why Letting Go and Not Feeling Guilty Matters:

  1. Release the Pressure: The world tells us we need to be perfect—always hitting our workouts, eating clean, ticking all the boxes. But let’s be real: it’s Christmas. The focus should be on joy, connection, and rest, not on micromanaging every single meal or workout. Let go of the pressure to be perfect for just this week and allow yourself to fully embrace the season.

  2. Guilt Has No Place Here: Guilt doesn’t help you. Guilt doesn’t lead to progress. Guilt doesn’t serve you. So why carry it around? If you indulge in a few extra treats, miss a workout, or take a break from your routine, let go of the guilt. It’s a part of life, and it’s one week. Enjoy it without any shame or worry. When you let go of guilt, you make space for real enjoyment and peace.

  3. Rest and Recharge: Whether you’re training hard or recovering from a busy year, your body and mind need rest. Taking time to slow down, to connect with loved ones, and to just be present is essential. Letting go of the need to be “on” all the time allows you to truly reset and recharge, so you can show up stronger in the new year.

Key Takeaways for This Week:

  • Let go of the pressure: It’s Christmas—focus on joy, connection, and rest, not perfection.

  • Let go of guilt: Whether you’ve missed a workout or eaten something indulgent, enjoy the moment and let it go.

  • Recharge and reset: Your body and mind need time to rest and recover. Trust that taking breaks makes you stronger in the long run.
